My Top 5 Baby Products for Newborn to 3 Mos.

As a first time mommy I had no idea what to expect with what my baby girl was going to like or not like. What products I would come to rely on and which ones I  would get no use out of — I (like most new moms) took advice from my friends and family on which products to get based on what worked for them and their babies. It’s really the only thing we can do to get prepared for a baby.

We are now going on 12 weeks since Monroe was born and there is a lot I have learned about her and the products we have come to rely on through this newborn phase, 0-3 months! So, here are the items we couldn’t go a day without and  have found super helpful but also enjoyable for Monroe.

+ I want to add that every baby is clearly different and your baby might not take to these items the same, but at least you have some idea on items that could work for them , you and your partner!

5. Blooming Baby Activity Gym  ($99)

As you may know, every newborn – 3 months needs a play mat/ activity gym for tummy time during these crucial developmental weeks! What I like about this gym is it comes with a pillow to prop their head up. It’s great for tummy time and when you want to lay them flat but give their little heads some support.

4. Bloom CoCo go 3-in-1 bouncer  ($180)

This item is more on the expensive side so as it did make my list, I would make this a splurge item and it’s why I put it at #4 on the list. It’s maybe not necessary but it does work well for our Monroe and we use it often. One of  the main reasons we decided to purchase this item was that it is easily portable for when we bring Mo to friends or family houses, but also has 3 different seat angles. One for lounging, one for eating which is upright and one for sleeping that lays flat. We also like how modern it looks and lightweight it is to carry.

3. Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing ($72)

We have used this swing pretty much everyday with Monroe since she has been born. We have it positioned near our kitchen table and that is where she swings while we eat breakfast, lunch or dinner so that we can see her. What we like with this swing are the multiple speed settings, music, sound and vibration options. All things that help keep a baby soothed and comfortable!

2. Fisher-Price Auto Rock ‘n Play Sleeper ($55)

This one was a shocker to me and my husband. When we went to assemble it – it seemed somewhat cheap in the materials. BUT, boy were we wrong — this little portal crib rocker we use all the time and its what we keep Monroe in for most of the time during these early weeks and months. We love that this is a rocker and has vibration and cradles the baby nicely. For $55 its amazingly affordable and useful!  I also really like how lightweight it is and when I am home with Monroe alone, I can carry it from room to room very easily. (Which I can’t say the same for the 4Moms Mamaroo)

 1. The SNOO Smart Sleeper ($1,160)

The Snoo Smart Sleeper is a responsive bassinet that helps the baby and parents sleep! I have to admit when I first came across the Snoo, I was skeptical and not really sure how it would or could work. I thought it was a good marketing campaign with fancy features and questioned how could it really put a newborn crying baby to sleep? Well mamas, I was wrong — this bassinet has truly been amazing for us and our Monroe! You really can believe the hype! It’s amazing how responsive it is when she gets fussy and begins to cry — the SNOO kicks in and begins to swivel her while increasing the volume of the sound machine– that’s built into the bassinet! It helps soothe and rock them into or back into sleep. Monroe sleeps through the night – only waking up when she is hungry of course. We also put her down while she is  awake and eyes open — as the SNOO actually helps her to fall asleep. As it is very expensive and we debated for awhile whether to buy it – we would now say its worth every penny and minute of our sleep!
